Ping — Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 7, 2026
Ping is an event-planning and group-messaging app. This page explains what
information Ping collects, why, and how it's used.
Information we collect
- Account info: your name, email address, and profile photo, when you sign up or sign in (via email/password, Google, or Sign in with Apple).
- Phone number: if you add one in Settings, used only to match you against contacts other users add, so invites reach the right account.
- Contacts: if you choose to import from your device's contacts, we store the name and phone number of the contacts you select, so you can invite them to events and groups. We never access your contacts without you explicitly choosing to import them.
- Photos: photos you choose to attach to an event or your profile, using your device's camera or photo library.
- Content you create: events, invitations, RSVPs, group memberships, and messages you send within the app.
- Push notification token: a device identifier used to deliver notifications to you, if you enable them.
How we use this information
We use your information solely to operate the app's core features: creating
and displaying events, matching invited contacts to their accounts,
delivering in-app and push notifications, and showing messages within
events and groups you're part of. We do not sell your information, and we
do not use it for advertising.
Data storage
App data is stored using Supabase, a hosted database and backend provider.
Photos are stored via Supabase Storage. Reasonable technical safeguards
(access controls at the database level) restrict who can read your data to
you and the people you've explicitly shared events, groups, or messages
with.
Sharing with other users
Your name and profile photo are visible to people you share an event or
group with. Messages you send in an event or group chat are visible to
other members of that event or group. We do not share your information
with third parties for their own purposes.
Your choices
- You can remove your phone number or profile photo at any time in Settings.
- You can decline to import contacts or grant camera/photo library access — these features simply won't be available if declined.
- You can delete your account by contacting us at the email below.
